In a world that often feels rushed, divided, and disconnected, moments like this stop us in our tracks….
We have a gentleman who recently retired and chose not to slow down, but to 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻—investing his time, his skills, and his heart into volunteering with
Lydia’s House of Hope teaching classes. From the very beginning, the women were deeply moved by his gentle, steady presence. Some even shared that they “wished they had a dad like him.” That alone speaks volumes.
When he saw the 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 of our community—donations pouring in faster than our front office could hold them—he didn’t see clutter or inconvenience. He saw need. He saw opportunity. He saw love in action.
So he did what love often does—quietly and without fanfare. He came in, took careful measurements, and committed to 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱-𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘀… 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘁. 𝗔 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘁. A place of rest. A place of warmth. A place that says, you belong here.
Because we are not state or federally funded, community support is vital to everything we do. Yet even deeper than that, we know this truth: 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝗱, 𝗻𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲!
Scripture reminds us, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain” (Psalm 127:1). What we are witnessing is God building—not just rooms and cabinets—through willing hands and obedient hearts.
This is what generosity looks like when it’s rooted in faith.
This is what community looks like when love leads.
This is what sacrifice looks like when God is at the center.
From the bottom of our hearts—𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗳𝗳

Your kindness is a quiet testimony in a loud world, and it matters more than you know!
